The A. B. C.'s of Salvation

Please read this first:

The scriptures mentioned on this page are taken from the Bible, the divinely inspired book that addresses mankind's sinfulness and subsequent need for salvation. They are references that are good to reflect upon when someone realizes this need. Remember, God is the one who brings conviction and the realization one needs the Lord Jesus as Savior and Lord. (John 6:44) We simply share how an individual may remedy their situation based upon the Word of God.

Oftentimes, someone who has genuinely received Jesus as Savior & Lord of their life will think they are in need of salvation again. This is common when a person is sinning and feels the conviction of the Holy Spirit of God in their heart telling them what they are doing is wrong. If that is truly the case, then they need to simply confess the sin(s) to God and do an about face in their life. There is no need to get "saved" again if they've already been truly saved the first time. It's called "eternal life" (John 3:16) because it's ETERNAL! But, if they are saved and committing sin(s), God's Word says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness!"  (1 John 1:8-9) Once they have been forgiven & cleansed, then they should start living for Him again and keeping their life clean from sin.

However, be sure you know Jesus Christ as your Savior & Lord. Do not attempt to play games with Him. He knows your heart. He's God, which means He is omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (everywhere), and omniscient (all-knowing). Simply walking an aisle in a church, being born into a Christian home, or trying to be a really good person does not constitute what the Bible says is being "born again". (John 3:3) It is a personal, life-changing experience with Jesus Christ that saves anyone. (2 Corinthians 5:17) When you are genuinely "born again" your life will never be the same!! This conviction from God could be telling you that you were never truly born again and that you do indeed need salvation.

If you are uncertain whether or not you have ever given your heart to Him, then we would encourage you to settle it once and for all today. Then you can be assured and move onward and upward in your daily walk with Him! After all, it is the most important decision you will ever make in this life! The following material will assist you in becoming a Christian, should you wish to do so.

ADMIT:

Admit to God that you are a sinner and need a Savior.

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

Proverbs 28:13

"He that covers his sins will not prosper, but he that confesses and forakes them will have mercy!"

Psalm 51:5

"Behold, I was shaped in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me!"

Acts 3:19

"Repent, then turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."

BELIEVE:

Believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, that He lived, died, was buried, and rose again, and that He came to save people from their sins.

Roman's 5:8

"but God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Acts 4:12

"Salvation is found in nothing or no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

I Peter 3:18

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive by the Spirit."

John 14:6

"Jesus answered, I am the only way, the only truth, and the only life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

CONFESS:

Pray and receive Jesus Christ into your heart and life as your Lord and Savior, which means you are trusting Him with your life and turning from (repenting) living a life of unbelief. This prayer for salvation must be out of a conviction in your heart of your sinfulness before Almighty God, and must be genuine. God knows your heart.

(A sample prayer: "Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need a Savior. Right now, I turn from my unbelief and turn to You for salvation. Please come into my heart and life and save me. I will love You and follow You all the days of my life! Thank you, Lord, for coming into my heart, forgiving me for all my sins, and for making me a new person. In Jesus' name, Amen!")

John 1:12

"But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."

Romans 10:9-10

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Romans 10:13

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Matthew 16:24

"then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me."

Luke 9:23

"Then He said to them all: if anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me."

The A.B.C.'s Of What To Do Next

ACT upon this new decision and share it with someone who can rejoice with you concerning your newfound faith in Jesus!

BEGIN spending time in the Word of God, preferably the Gospel of John, and start growing in your walk with the Lord on a daily basis!

CHOOSE a Bible-believing church (we would love to have you at ABC) and let the pastor know of your recent decision to commit your life to Christ Jesus. He will instruct you concerning believer's baptism (immersion), which is what the Bible states a new Christian should do as a symbol and proof of what has occurred inwardly.

ONE LAST REQUEST:

If you have prayed that prayer of salvation to receive Jesus Christ into your heart as your Savior and Lord, would you share with us about the decision you have made in order that we might pray for you and perhaps minister to you at this time in your life?

We would love for you to contact us and let us know of your commitment, if you so choose. God bless you!
